Kumano Kodo Hiking: A Romantic Journey for Eighth Anniversary
Eight years seems to be a blink of an eye, but also seems to be as long as poetry. This summer, we chose a small forest in Japan and embarked on the Kumano Kodo, a picturesque hike known as a spiritual healing path, to celebrate our eighth anniversary.
1. First introduction to Kumano Kodo
The Kumano Kodo is one of the only world cultural heritage hiking routes in the world. We carried all our luggage and started our first long-distance hiking adventure. The collection of seals along the way has become a small blessing of our journey, and each step has left us with shared memories.
2. The hardship and fun of hiking
The hike was not easy. The mountain road was rugged and the sun was scorching, but when we reached the top of the mountain and overlooked the green forest and Japanese countryside, all the fatigue disappeared. During the trip, we also encountered a wild snake. Although it was a bit scary, it also added a lot of fun to the trip.
3. Leisure time in the afternoon
In the afternoon we enjoyed some quiet time in the cabin. Fried chicken sandwiches and matcha ice cream became our energy supply and brought us a small sense of happiness. In the evening, we arrived at our accommodation for the night - an exquisite country cabin. Looking at the scenery outside the window, we look forward to our next trip to the hot springs.
4. The surprise of the hot spring hotel
In the hot spring hotel, we enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner and a comfortable hot spring. Soaking in the hot springs, we forgot all our fatigue. When night fell, we sat by the window, sipping Coke and recalling every detail of the day.
5. The challenge of the second day
The next day, we faced a bigger challenge - climbing over three mountains. Although the journey was more difficult, the thought of staying in a beautiful hot spring hotel at night made us full of motivation. During the hike, we also helped a Chinese man who lost his luggage find his bag, which made our journey even more meaningful.
6. The perfect ending
After two days of hiking, we finally arrived at our destination. At the hot spring hotel, we once again enjoyed a delicious dinner and a comfortable hot spring. When night fell, we sat by the window and reviewed every detail of this trip, and our hearts were filled with satisfaction and happiness.
Conclusion
For our eighth anniversary, we chose an unusual way to celebrate—hiking the Kumano Kodo. This trip not only allowed us to enjoy the beautiful scenery, but also made us feel the tacit understanding and care between us. In the days to come, we will continue to move forward hand in hand and create more beautiful memories.
