Breaking the rules and creating a new world of remote work for women - the story of Remote Woman

The progress of ideas is always slow, especially when compared with the rapid changes in science and technology. But it is this slowness that makes us cherish those people and things that work hard for equality, diversity and inclusion. Today, I want to share with you a remote working platform specially designed for women - Remote Woman.

Remote Woman, a unique remote work platform dedicated to providing women with remote work opportunities at female-friendly companies around the world. These companies include the well-known NETFLIX, GITHUB, etc. They provide positions ranging from marketing, design, development, products, to sales, support, etc. The "support positions" here include not only customer service, HR, and accounting as we conventionally understand them, but also multiple positions such as analysts, truly achieving comprehensive career coverage.

The founder behind it, Java Mo, is an outstanding figure with a diverse professional background. He once rose to prominence in the media industry and won recognition from the Emmy Awards; then he crossed over into the technology field, demonstrating his multi-faceted talents. However, his path to remote work has not been smooth. In 2018, when he sought a remote job, he encountered many challenges: gender bias in positions, the company's lack of support for remote work, and false information on recruitment websites... none of these made him back down. Instead, he chose an extraordinary path: creating a solution.

So, in 2019, Remote Woman and A Remote Plc came into being. These two platforms not only provide women and people of color with the opportunity to work remotely, but also open a door to work-life balance. Here, women can create value at home and gain more choices and freedom; those who are disadvantaged in the workplace due to gender, age, appearance, skin color or belief can finally speak with their own abilities in the online world.

Of course, there will always be people who question: Today's society has progressed enough and is tolerant enough for women, what else do you want? But the fact is that even today, women still face a variety of overt and covert biases and discrimination during the job search process. As an interviewer, I have received countless resumes, many of which were women who specifically marked "married with children" on their resumes or who hinted during the interview that they had no plans to have children. This got me thinking: What is the connection between a person’s birth plan and her ability to work? When will we truly get rid of this bias?

I have also personally experienced image discrimination in the workplace. A boss once looked me up and down and said, "You must be at a disadvantage in the workplace with an image like yours." I thought at that time: What's wrong with my image? Does short hair mean insufficient work ability?

The progress of ideas is indeed much slower than the progress of technology. But we cannot give up our efforts because of this. The existence of Remote Woman is precisely to challenge and subvert this inequality. It tells us: Everyone has the right to choose a working style and lifestyle that suits them; everyone has the right to be recognized for their abilities in the workplace.

Finally, I want to say: I hope that one day, such a platform will be born in China, so that more people can enjoy the convenience and freedom of remote work. I am Solar, let us be human product managers together and work hard to create a more equal, diverse and inclusive world!
