Have you ever longed to find a peaceful world in your busy life to relax and settle your mind? In Lijiang, we found a place that allowed us to redefine what a truly relaxing life is.
An accidental trip led us to encounter Baisha Ancient Town in Lijiang. Compared with the bustling Old Town of Lijiang, this place is quieter and more leisurely. We chose a small hotel located at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as our place to stay. There is only one B&B and one pizza shop. The owner of the courtyard, Aguai, is a backpacker who traveled through Southeast Asia. He has now settled in this ancient town for nearly ten years.
Walking into the courtyard, a rustic atmosphere hits your face. The yard is filled with the atmosphere of sunshine and stories, and the aura is very comfortable. At night, the wind in Lijiang is biting, but there is a stove in the room. Aguai invited us to sit around the fire to keep warm, grilling tofu and quiche, and we enjoyed a moment of leisure and beauty while chatting.
During our stay in Baisha, we did morning exercises facing the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain every morning, went to the homes of new friends to eat and chat, and took walks in the evening in secluded villages far away from tourists. Life here is simple and beautiful, making us feel the tranquility and comfort we have not seen for a long time.
In order to explore the quieter and simpler Baisha Ancient Village, we came to Yuhu Village at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Although a lot of construction has begun here, you can still see many stone houses. The villagers are simple and enthusiastic. We bought yak meat skewers, and the boss also gave us a few skewers. After wandering around the village, it suddenly started snowing heavily. We hid in a small courtyard shaped like a school bag, but we didn't expect that there was a tea room inside.
On snowy days, we sat around the fire to warm ourselves up, drink Pu'er tea, and watch the snow falling all over the sky. Cats and puppies lazed and slept by the fire while we chatted with a fellow writer. He has written two collections of poems and a novel. We deeply admire his attitude towards life away from the hustle and bustle and enjoying tranquility.
In the small courtyard of Lijiang, we found the secret of relaxing life. It is not only an attitude of staying away from the bustling and enjoying a peaceful life, but also a return to nature and authenticity. Here, we learn to let go of busyness and anxiety and feel every moment in life with our heart. This kind of relaxed life makes us cherish everything we have in front of us more, and also makes us look forward to the future life more.
