In an era of seeking online traffic and brand exposure, many startups are turning to Reddit, a social platform with 800 million active users. However, Reddit users may be your most critical audience. After 2 months of continuous attempts and more than 40 posts, I have summarized some valuable experience.
My most successful post has 1.3 million views and 5,000 likes. But success is no accident. Here are some of my accumulated experiences to share with you.
Rules adapted to each subreddit Each subreddit has its own unique culture and preferences. To be successful, you need to spend at least an hour learning the rules of a specific subreddit and figuring out which posts are most likely to gain traction.
Read the rules carefully and follow them strictly . Moderators are often very strict about enforcing the rules. Yesterday I was permanently banned from a subreddit for violating the rules.
Don’t Direct Sales Reddit users are generally very averse to sales pitches. If you’re not careful, you could get banned and receive a lot of negative comments.
Don’t expect users to actively visit your profile. On Reddit, unlike Twitter or LinkedIn, users are less likely to click on your profile to see more information.
Create multiple backup accounts Since the possibility of your account being blocked is high, it is recommended to create two or three accounts and nurture them by posting or commenting.
Reddit's success doesn't happen by accident. You need to plan carefully, keep trying, and not be afraid of failure. If you want to know more, feel free to ask questions, I'm happy to help.
I hope my experience helps you succeed on Reddit!
