Someone once said that the meaning of travel is to discover different scenery and experience different lives. However, the moment I stepped into Chengdu, I realized that this is not only a travel destination, but also a living paradise that makes people want to stay.
When I first arrived in Chengdu, I planned to stay for a short time, but after two weeks, I found that I had already fallen in love with the fireworks of this city. In the teahouse, old people sit around a table, and the sound of mahjong is heard one after another, as if time has slowed down here. The greenery on the rooftops of the old city is in stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city. The food stalls on the streets and alleys are even more fascinating, as if every bite is a sign of love for this city.
In Chengdu, I discovered another possibility of a big city. Compared with other big cities, the consumption level is more friendly to the people. Get together with friends and enjoy a delicious meal for just a few dozen yuan per person. The daily rent for a small apartment is only over 100, which is very cost-effective. Such prices are almost unimaginable in big cities such as Shanghai. And the community atmosphere here surprised me even more. Opposite the B&B where I live, there is a community center called "Diya Home", which provides office space and leisure places, making people feel the warmth of home.
On the recommendation of a friend, I walked into the community in Yulin. A large number of young people and cultural and creative workers gather here, and the various interesting shops and creative works are dazzling. Yulin has a unique flavor at night. Having a drink with friends and chatting about life seems like all the worries have disappeared. In addition, there are many independent bookstores in Chengdu. These bookstores are not only holy places for reading, but also places where dreams can start.
During my time in Chengdu, I met many interesting people. Some of them engage in yoga and astrology consulting, some are committed to creating ecological living communities, and some operate the entire company remotely. I was extremely surprised and inspired by the lifestyles and experiences of these people. Spending time with them made me feel the diversity and possibilities of life.
Two weeks have passed and I have already regarded Chengdu as my second home. The fireworks, slow life, cost-effectiveness, cultural creativity and interesting people all made me fall deeply in love with this city. And the friends here make me feel the warmth and belonging of home. I think this is the charm of Chengdu - a paradise that makes people linger and forget to leave. Next, I will continue my traveling life and explore more cities and scenery. But no matter where I go, Chengdu will be the best memory in my heart.
