When I first embarked on my travel journey, my heart was filled with curiosity and expectation for the unknown. I carried a lot of equipment from the seaside to the plateau, from the mountains to the city, hoping to find a corner where my soul could rest. However, as the journey progressed, I gradually discovered that true freedom does not come from material abundance, but from inner simplicity and tranquility.
After several moves and adjustments, I downsized from a car full of equipment to just the space of a trunk. I realized that there aren’t many real necessities. Computers, pots and pans, clothes and bedding, these make up all of my traveling life. They are simple and functional and meet all my daily needs.
For me who need to work for long hours, there is no substitute for the efficiency of a desktop computer. However, its bulkiness also gave me a headache when moving. In contrast, the portability of a laptop allows me to work on the go. But if you are like me and need to work stably for a long time, then a desktop is still the best choice.
Wherever I go, I try to find a place with a kitchen. Although many rental houses do not provide kitchenware, I will prepare it myself. During the cooking process, I felt the warmth and comfort of home. The company of pots and pans allows me to find a sense of belonging in a foreign land.
Since I live a lot of time in the South, my clothes don’t need to be too heavy. Summer clothing is light and easy to carry and is sufficient for most weather conditions. However, in special circumstances, such as going to plateau or mountainous areas, I will still prepare some warm clothes to cope with the cold weather.
As much as I would love to travel with my bald kitty, reality holds me back. Taking a cat out requires preparing a series of items such as a flight box, cat litter box, cat food, etc. This not only increases the burden of travel, but also increases the cat’s discomfort. Therefore, after weighing the pros and cons, I chose to keep the cat at home.
Although I can’t take my cat out with me, I can choose to bring a cat belly pillow. This pillow is soft and comfortable, allowing me to enjoy the warmth of home in a foreign land. It has two styles to choose from, each of which is as smooth as a cat's belly, allowing me to fall asleep easily at night.
During my stay, I gradually came up with some travel tips. First, it’s important to plan ahead. Whether you’re choosing transportation or where to stay, it’s important to understand and compare the pros and cons of different options in advance. Secondly, safety always comes first. Before going out, make preparations to prevent theft and fraud to avoid unnecessary losses. Finally, it’s important to keep an open mind. We will encounter all kinds of people and things during the trip. Keeping an open mind can help us better integrate into the local life and culture.
After two years of living as a sojourn, I deeply understand the importance of simplicity and freedom. During the journey, we don’t need to pursue and possess too much material, but we need to learn to let go and simplify our lives. Only in this way can we truly feel the beauty and freedom of the journey. I hope my experience can inspire and help you. Let’s find our own simplicity and freedom together on the journey!
