This summer, I walked into a rural magazine that was renovated from a century-old house in Xiamen. This is neither a traditional B&B nor a magazine in the traditional sense, but a place where four young people who resigned from state-owned enterprises started a new life style that is half urban and half rural.
Most of these four young people were born in 1995. Three of them are colleagues at the state-owned enterprise Strait Tourism and one is a university classmate. With their experience in commercial real estate and rural cultural tourism, they embarked on the road of rural entrepreneurship. According to the manager, this place is like "the Xiamen version of the life you long for." For urban young people under high pressure, this is a good place to relax and experience a different life. It is also the studio of the Youth Rural Revitalization Rural Innovation Team.
When you walk into the courtyard, you can see the roof with southern Fujian characteristics. The wooden stage will be transformed into a small country stage where future rap labels will host live performances. The exhibition hall will hold various themed exhibitions, covering the countryside, art, creativity, etc., and there will be a variety of cultural and creative products, such as letting friends spend time building ancient houses with Lego, and homemade newspapers telling interesting stories about the countryside.
Remodeling an old house isn't always easy. The roof of the ancient house partially collapsed. During the repair process, the landlord, two village brothers in their 60s and 70s, had their own understanding of rural customs and had different opinions on how to repair the roof. According to the landlord's request, they could only ask a master to remove and adjust the already installed roof, which cost thousands of yuan. This not only caused economic losses, but also delayed the construction period.
Garden renovations can also be challenging. It would have taken about a week to plow the fields and clear up the wasteland. Surprisingly, five people's slippers and a glass bottle owned by the landlord more than 20 years ago were dug out of the soil. However, after the soil was improved, the persimmon trees that were originally thought to be difficult to survive grew new branches and leaves this spring, and also produced small fruits.
What everyone is most concerned about is how to profit from this sentimental project. They have accumulated early capital and experience by serving government cultural and tourism integration projects. In the future, we plan to achieve commercial monetization in a variety of ways: first, relying on the "Chunmen" brand, we will carry out festival activities and group purchasing services, and select high-quality destinations; secondly, we will use this space as a testing ground to explore our own hematopoiesis ability. For example, after the hot spring opens, the entire hospital will be rented out, and it will cooperate with lifestyle brands such as floral art and music labels to undertake B-side team building and brand activities; third, "Creative Beauty Countryside Magazine" adopts a pop-up format to combine the magazine with the scenery. stand up. Use commercial real estate resources for promotion; fourth, explore the content e-commerce model.
When young people come to the village to start businesses, the villagers have different attitudes. The relatively young villagers welcome them because the village has always lacked people to communicate with. They were surprised to see them arrive and loved the space. As long as it does not affect their own interests, some villagers will remain indifferent. Living in a villager's home, the villagers' concern for the details of life makes people feel offended at first, but later they feel the cuteness behind this concern. It is also a process of rebuilding relationships with neighbors.
Some members of the team are from cities, and their understanding of the countryside has also changed during their participation in rural projects. They hope to revive the exchange of gifts and greetings between neighbors through the brand "Chunmen". In the city, neighbors may not know each other, but in the countryside, everyone can communicate openly and honestly. Urban people are curious about the earthworms, flocks of cattle, sheep, pigs and ducks, and the fresh air in the countryside, and they also realize that rural life also has a rich side.
This semi-urban, semi-rural lifestyle offers a relaxing, peaceful compromise for those stuck in the inertia of city life, feeling crowded and isolated. As expressed in their slogan "Lucky Flow", let the beauty flow, move firmly towards the goal, take the people and things around you seriously, and unexpected surprises will come. If you also yearn for such a life, you might as well come here to experience it. Maybe you will be attracted by this unique rural charm. Do you yearn for a life that is half city and half country?
