It's been a long time since I started traveling. This time I started from Shanghai and took the high-speed train to Huzhou. The nearly two-hour drive was accompanied by a good book. The destination of this trip is the Digital Nomad Commune in Anji, where many remote workers and freelancers gather.
At the high-speed rail station, I met offline for the first time with a netizen I had known for more than a year. I had absolutely no social anxiety and was full of visions of the coming homeless commune. Along the way, I not only marveled at the geographical features of Huzhou, but also listened to local friends Xiami’s popular science about Huzhou’s administrative divisions. It governs three counties and two districts. The city is growing slowly and has the leisurely feel of a retirement city. Outside the car window, there are endless mountains as far as the eye can see. As we get closer and closer to the commune, our curiosity and expectations become stronger and stronger. We were wondering if there were takeaways and shops there. Everything is full of unknowns.
Finally we saw the big commune logo, the navigation was over, and the security guard enthusiastically guided us to scan the code and park. It was already past nine o'clock in the evening. When checking in, I was told that I had to prepare and tidy up a three-piece suit myself, and that I had to wash dirty sheets myself. There are many surprises when you walk into the room. Large mirrors and cabinets can meet the storage needs of long-term residents. There is also a desk and a small balcony for working. Someone is singing outside the window. It is the Mid-Autumn Festival, the full moon hangs high in the sky, and the atmosphere is particularly beautiful.
There is a basketball court in the commune, which adds to the vitality. Judging from the room layout, containers seem to be more popular among couples. If a single person stays for less than 7 days, it will be calculated as 310 days (the expression here may be wrong, presumably it is a special billing method), and he will not be able to join the member group. However, bicycles are available and open 24 hours a day. Regarding power consumption, due to line power issues, you need to be careful when using high-power appliances and try to use only one. The relevant regulations will be explained in the guidance.
This trip to a digital nomad commune in rural Zhejiang has opened a different chapter of free travel. Are you also excited and want to experience it?
