From byte-based nudity to digital nomad: How do I find unprecedented freedom and excitement?
Have you ever been tired of your current life and wanted to pursue more freedom and excitement? Well, my story may bring you some inspiration.
Three years ago, I started my digital nomad life from ByteDance. At that time, when I made this decision, people around me thought I was crazy. But I knew clearly that what I wanted was more than just a high-paying and stable job. What I wanted was more freedom and possibilities.
So, I started my remote working journey. I live in a large house of 144 square meters, and the rent is only 1,900 yuan. I have more time and space to do the things I want to do. I can start working at any time and finish working at any time. I can choose the projects and teams I want to work with. I have more freedom and choices.
Over the past three years, I have tried different ways to make money online. The most stable thing is a job where you can work from home. I used to be the person in charge of a remote work platform. I also started a self-media career by accident, and came into contact with a lot of needs for career counseling and career coaching through the Internet. I have interacted with many more people than my colleagues at work.
Every time I see the other person have some insights, or come into contact with some ideas that I have never thought of before, I will feel the value of my existence again. Because I used to work as a corporate consultant in Byte, some companies now occasionally invite me to give lectures to them. I am equivalent to doing TO B and TO C consulting at the same time.
Now, I am still trying to start some hardware startups. Because I have wanted to play with some fun little things since I was a child, and the current supply chain can already support me in trying such things. So in the long term, I plan to start a small but beautiful remote company.
Looking back, my decision to quit Byte was not an easy one. But I believe that everyone has the need to expand their life, want to create, and want to live a more exciting life. If you are also tired of your current life and want to pursue more freedom and possibilities, then you can also consider becoming a digital nomad.
Of course, this is not a guide to lying flat. Becoming a digital nomad requires courage and determination, as well as constant learning and experimentation. But as long as you are willing to take that step, you will find unprecedented freedom and excitement waiting for you.
