[Those things about 2B business: exploration and thinking]
In the vast business field, B2B business has unique operational logic, and there are many points that need attention. Let’s follow the editor to have an in-depth chat today.
1. Your own service experience and original intention
- Serving many companies but not making a profit : My team has previously served more than 50 Chinese high-tech companies doing AI overseas, including many well-known large companies, star projects and entrepreneurs. Originally, we wanted to use our experience in related businesses to help them avoid pitfalls and detours. At the same time, we can also charge some fees to train the team. The idea was simple, but ultimately we made no money.
- Logical understanding of different markets : I have recognized a basic logic before. Doing 2B business in China is more suitable for big B, while the United States is suitable for small B. I mentioned it many times in the show. However, after serving domestic small B users this time, I have a deeper understanding of the actual situation behind this logic.
2. Trials and problems with different service models
- The dilemma of landing services : We have tried to provide landing services directly, thinking of spending thousands of dollars to help companies do things well, such as helping to send private messages on social platforms and reach target customer groups. Although this method is low-cost and has a high upper limit, and I have used it to make appointments with many big names and investors, when I provide services to companies in actual operations, I find that the effect is affected by many factors. If there is no effect, the company will easily feel that we have not done a good job and the price of the service cannot be sold. Value is measured in a completely different way than a course that sells for tens of thousands of dollars.
- Thoughts on the course model : Some people teach young people about overseas markets, marketing and other knowledge. Each class costs tens of thousands of dollars. There are also more expensive study tour programs, and many people participate. But I’m also thinking, after spending so much money on classes, can I really apply them immediately after returning to China? In fact, many courses do not guarantee that you will be able to do a good job in actual business after completing the course. But even if you don't do well, people often don't blame the course but feel like they didn't do well.
3. Serve the two "enemies" of domestic small B
- The impact of WeChat groups : For many startups, especially technology companies like ours, WeChat groups have become an obstacle in serving domestic small businesses. To serve American customers, you only need to build a website and the customers will pay directly. But in China, people are used to setting up a WeChat group to get to know each other first, and then customers will ask about everything. Our startup company doesn’t have many people, so labor costs are high. We just deal with these issues. This is very difficult, which limits the development of the market to a great extent.
- The impact of Xiaohongshu : There are many individuals providing services on Xiaohongshu, and the prices are relatively low. When customers come to us for video creation and related services, they compare it with the low prices on Xiaohongshu. But our company is in Shanghai, so the cost of team members is relatively high and they have overseas experience. Of course, we can't offer it at such a low price. service, which also makes us feel that we must respect the laws of the market.
4. Difficulties in serving domestic big B’s
- Communication Limitations and Restraints : There are currently many places where AI can reduce costs and increase efficiency. It is said that this is an opportunity to serve a domestic big B company. But in practice, the biggest difficulty lies in communication. Basically, you can only communicate with the boss to promote related business, because when communicating with the supervisors and other personnel below, the application of AI may weaken their management authority, and they have no motivation to promote it; even if you communicate with the boss, the boss will worry that AI is easy to memorize. pot. For example, if a company's performance fluctuates slightly, it's easy to blame the problem on its use of artificial intelligence. Moreover, AI currently only plays a role in reducing costs and increasing efficiency in niche areas. For example, on a corporate photography budget, even though a lot of money can be saved, the boss is afraid that something will go wrong and he will be held responsible.
In short, doing 2B business is indeed not a simple matter. Whether serving small B or big B, we must fully respect the laws of the market, consider various practical factors, and constantly explore suitable models.
