Vacation, a word that should be full of expectation and joy, why does it sometimes make us feel more exhausted? It's because we fall into the vortex of "vacation syndrome" and use our vacations incorrectly, making ourselves more and more tired during the rest. So, how can we make the holidays truly our “gas station” and bring us full energy? Next, let me, a former Internet product manager, share with you some of my rest tips.
Step One: Take Back Your Attention
In this era of information explosion, our attention is ruthlessly ripped apart by various apps. As a first step, all we need to do is take back our attention. Stop all stimulation to the brain and all things that consume brain energy, even if it is only for ten minutes. Remember, this is your vacation, and you have the right to distance yourself from the endless torrent of information.
Step 2: Focus on doing one simple thing
The way to rest your brain is not to stop all thoughts, because it is difficult to think of nothing. Instead, we need to focus on doing a very simple thing so that it fills our brain and drives away other thoughts. The one I use most is body scanning, a method I accidentally learned in high school. At that time, I only knew that it could help me fall asleep quickly. Many years later, I learned that Professor ANDREWHUAN of Stanford University summarized it as yoga-style sleep. This is really very effective.
Step 3: Go for a walk somewhere sunny
After waking up, go for a walk somewhere sunny. It is especially recommended to take a walk in a natural environment and give yourself a short period of time, completely away from the messages, notifications and ringtones that make you nervous and anxious. Sunlight is a gift from nature. It can not only promote the production of vitamin D, but also help us relax and relieve psychological stress.
Step 4: Exercise, but don’t get too tired
Of course, proper exercise is also essential during the holidays. But please don’t choose exercises that make you feel bored or even miserable. Try pairing it with some music you like to make exercise fun and relaxing. I have a very "perverted" but very effective method, which is to do any movement that can open your armpits. Actions like this can make you feel better. You don't have to do very tiring or hard-core exercises, just simple movements like jumping jacks can stretch your arms and relax your mind and body together.
The above is the vacation rest method I shared with you. Remember, taking a break is not a waste of time or a source of guilt. High-quality rest allows us to better devote ourselves to future work and life. So please enjoy your vacation! Let us rest together, recharge our batteries, and face a better tomorrow!
