In the past year, have you ever had a moment like this: busy every day but repetitive like a machine? When you look back, your life hasn't changed that much. Are you often caught up in emotional inner conflicts and unable to take control of your life? Don’t worry, today I will share with you a unique set of life “cheating” techniques. It is not a metaphysical fantasy, but a practical way of thinking - treating life as a game. This kind of thinking can help you open your own copy of life and unlock a unique life map.
Take myself as an example. Four years ago, I quit my job to start a business, established a marketing agency, and started the challenge of an artist company. At the same time, I traveled all over the world, visiting dozens of countries and hundreds of cities. This year, I also obtained a long-term visa to Spain, moved to Europe, and continued to explore new “territory”. Two years ago, I got involved in self-media. Now I have 80,000 fans online, and my skills have also improved. In the past few months, we have acquired a British company, launched digital products, and started a passive income model to earn US dollars. These experiences are like constantly fighting monsters and upgrading in the game, gaining new skills and experience points, enriching characters, and opening new copies at any time.
1. Main tasks in the workplace : Many times, we are very busy, but the efficiency is very low, perhaps because the main tasks are not clear. Just like the game, the main quest is the key to leveling up. If you just complete side tasks blindly, it will be difficult to progress. To identify your workplace’s key tasks, you can ask yourself two questions: What are your goals for the next three to five years? How does what you’re doing now help achieve your goals? For example, I once worked for a company. Because I yearn for a free life, my main task is not just to work for the company and get a promotion and salary increase, but to use the company's platform to learn core skills, accumulate portfolios and project cases, and prepare for independent work. Today, my long-term career goal is to continue building an online business and maintain an artist company model that allows for the freedom to travel globally. In order to achieve this goal, the main tasks at this stage are to build a personal brand, develop digital products, and increase passive income. 2. The main task of life : In my opinion, the main task of life is to establish meaningful and growth-promoting relationships or experiences. The long-term goal is to have a healthy body, a peaceful mind and a lifelong learning attitude. In the short term, I hope to continue traveling the world within the next three to five years. Therefore, the main task now is not to settle down, but to go to a strange country, such as Spain, to explore a new life and improve the ability to live independently. In order to achieve my long-term goals, I insist on maintaining inner peace through meditation, laying the foundation for traveling around the world through exercise, and promoting the simultaneous progress of my brain and soul through reading and taking classes. I recommend the book "Mastering Habits" to help you plan your daily tasks and get bigger "game rewards" in your life.
1. Side jobs in the workplace : After clarifying your main job, be wary of interference from side jobs. In the workplace, working overtime to please the boss, getting involved in internal competition, spending too much time on interpersonal relationships, participating in meaningless meeting processes and writing reports, etc. are all side jobs. For example, in the original company, many colleagues voluntarily worked overtime because the leader did not leave, but I think the leader is also a worker and does not have to be like this. I pay more attention to improving my core skills. After starting my business, I only work with people I like. 2. Side hustle in life : Side hustle in life is equally attractive, but they can easily make us fall into the trap of self-reward. Things like meaningless social activities to escape loneliness, drinking and dancing, staying up late using mobile phones to get instant dopamine satisfaction, paying too much attention to makeup, etc., can all be classified as side jobs. For example, I used to be a sociable person, but now I pay more attention to the quality of interpersonal relationships and reduce my social activities. It is recommended that you make a table and spend a week recording your daily activities to distinguish which ones are related to the main tasks and which are side tasks. After all, although the main tasks are difficult, the rewards are greater. Don’t let side hustles take away our time and lives.
You must have a game life mentality and don't be obsessed with winning or losing, because losing is the shortcut to upgrading the game. In the game, the key to leveling up is to complete tasks and accumulate experience. The same is true in life. Only by accumulating experience through failures and mistakes can you pass the levels quickly. The “big boss” of life is our life projects, unfinished projects will appear again and again. For example, if you're having problems in your relationship, it may be because of your own unresolved anxieties. If not resolved, it may happen again in subsequent relationships. Difficulties encountered at work should be viewed as opportunities to unlock new skills. If you want to defeat the "boss" in your life, you need to face the problem head on.
In the game of life, you will encounter all kinds of people and things. When things go wrong, tell yourself this is just a story your character needs to go through. For example, I went through a breakup this year. Although my emotions have been ups and downs, from the perspective of game life, I understand that the relationship task is completed and the project is over. I don't think about it, I just cry when I need to. After you finish crying, continue to focus on the main tasks, such as applying for visas, settling in the company, creating popular content, etc. If you encounter bad people or bad things, treat them as NPCs and focus your time and energy on the matter. The one you love.
The charm of the game is that we are both the protagonist and the controller, rather than an NPC being led by the plot. However, in reality, many people become passive participants due to factors such as parental expectations, workplace culture, and social pressure. For example, if our parents expect us to pursue a specific career, we need to think about whether this is really our goal. We often make the standards and social expectations of those around us our main priority, but in reality there are no fixed rules in life. We should not be bound by other people's expectations. We need to take back the right to define our own lives, say "no" to things we don't want to do, respect our own feelings, and ensure the gaming experience. As Rousseau said: "Man is born free, but he is always in chains." We must understand that we are not who we are in other people's eyes, that life is not about fulfilling other people's to-do lists, and that there is no need to live by other people's rules or expectations.
Finally, I recommend the book "Siddhartha". This is my spiritual enlightenment book. This made me realize that life is a game. I don’t care about winning or losing. I regard all experiences as spiritual practice. May we all live wisely and feel whole in the present moment.
