Once upon a time, I was a Jiangsu native running around in a fast-paced life. Until that winter, I chose to come to Dali, and everything began to change. Dali’s sunshine, pace of life, and unique freedom all gave me an unprecedented experience.
When I first arrived in Dali, the most surprising thing for me was the sunshine here. It is sunny almost every day, and the sunrise time is late, so I, a Jiangsu native who is accustomed to getting up early, can also enjoy the warmth brought by the sun in the morning. Standing on the balcony and watching the sun rise slowly, I feel like my whole body has been healed. This kind of sunshine not only dispels my fear of winter, but also allows me to re-understand the beauty of life.
In Dali, I experienced the long-lost fun of going to the market. The March Street Market was filled with all kinds of fresh vegetables and fruits, which made me feel like I was back in my childhood hometown. Compared with life in Shanghai, prices here are more affordable, and many farmers still retain traditional trading methods, which makes me feel very friendly. Wandering around the market, you can not only buy fresh ingredients, but also feel the enthusiasm and simplicity of the Dali people.
After coming to Dali, I found that the pace of life slowed down unconsciously. There will be enough time every day to exercise, read, cook, and even hang out with friends. We also have more time for outdoor activities. We often go running and see the scenery together. This simple and regular life makes me feel more relaxed and allows me to regain the joy of life.
The biggest feeling that Dali gives me is freedom. People here can come and go freely without too many restrictions. It’s a perfect place to live for those of us who are freelancers. During these two months of living in Dali, I gradually developed a strong desire: I hope to find a small yard here in the future, raise a cat, and live my ideal life.
During these two months of living in Dali, I gained a lot. I was deeply fascinated by the sunshine, products, pace of life and atmosphere of freedom here. However, life is always full of challenges. Although Dali has given me many wonderful memories, we are about to leave this beautiful place and go home to celebrate the New Year. But I believe that one day in the future, we will return to this charming city again and continue to write our own stories.
