Evergrande Century Dream City: A journey where reality and fantasy intersect
Hidden in the suburbs about 20 kilometers away from Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province is a resort community called Evergrande Century Dream City. This community attracts many travelers with its unique location and architectural style, and I became one of them. After two years of renting and traveling across the country, this is undoubtedly the most unique place I have ever lived.
As soon as you enter Evergrande Century Dream City, you feel like you are in a fairy tale world. High-rise residences and castle-style buildings are intertwined to form a unique picture. However, as I went deeper into the community, some less harmonious pictures gradually emerged.
The first things that caught my eye were the houses that had been renovated but were rarely visited. The air conditioner and furniture on the balcony seem to tell the story of the past prosperity. However, when I walked into a 410-month furnished apartment that was said to be 22 square meters, I found that the actual living area was only a little over ten square meters. The bathroom is suffocatingly small, and the kitchen can only accommodate a small refrigerator. This spatial layout makes me feel helpless.
However, what surprised me even more was the 610-month duplex type. Although there is an additional living room, the whole room still looks small and depressing. I have to be careful going up and down the stairs every day for fear of bumping my head. This kind of design makes me think: Why do we still build such mini rooms in the vast suburbs?
In addition to the issue of apartment size, the commercial facilities in the community also appear to be quite poor. Except for a few closed stores, there are advertisements for leasing and hosting. Here, takeout has become a luxury, and the nearest restaurant is 7 kilometers away. This kind of living environment makes me a little uncomfortable.
However, when I came to the castle area, the sight before me made my eyes shine. Golf courses, park villas and other facilities are all available, making you feel like you are in a European town. The appearance of the castle is very intimidating. The main castle looks like a smaller version of Chenonceau Castle in France, and the other castles also have their own characteristics. It's just a pity that these castles are only superficial at present, and the interior is still under construction.
Surrounding the castle, mountains, forests, lakes and other natural landscapes surround it, adding a bit of tranquility and harmony to the place. However, the turbidity of the lake made me a little disappointed. Such beautiful scenery is in sharp contrast to the poor water quality.
During my time in Evergrande Century Dream City, I experienced the intersection of reality and fantasy. There are not only fairy-tale castles and beautiful natural environments, but also unsatisfactory living conditions and commercial facilities. For such a tourist vacation project, it is unclear whether it is worth it or not. But no matter what, this experience will become an unforgettable page in my travel career.
