Global Travel Life: Spend 500,000 to explore in-depth experiences in nine countries
Hello everyone, I am Xiao Ding and Xiao Pan, a nomadic couple. In the past three and a half years, we have traveled to nine countries and experienced different customs and customs. People often wonder, how much does such a lifestyle cost? Today, we are going to share our bills with you, hoping to give some reference to those friends who also long for a free traveling life.
1. Food expenses: self-sufficiency and tasting authentic food
Food expenses are an inevitable part of traveling. We chose to buy our own ingredients and cook by ourselves, which not only saved money, but also allowed us to experience the cooking culture of different places. At the same time, we will also go to local restaurants to taste authentic food and experience different tastes and customs. Overall, we spent about RMB 100,000 on food.
2. Accommodation expenses: RV, hotel and long-term rental
Accommodation is another important expense in traveling life. We initially chose to travel in an RV, but later discovered that RV sites also require fees. Later, we tried hotels and long-term rentals. When traveling for a short period of time, we prefer to stay in hotels or B&Bs; while for a long-term stay, we choose to rent a house locally, which is more comfortable and economical. The total accommodation cost also reached 100,000 yuan.
3. Transportation costs: air tickets, buses and daily taxis
When traveling around the world, transportation costs are also an essential part. Our expenditure in this area is about 80,000 yuan, of which air tickets account for the majority. In order to save money, we will choose low-cost airlines and use the Tianqun app to search for the cheapest air tickets. In addition, we will also take buses, taxis, etc. to meet our daily travel needs.
4. Learning and experience: enrich life and gain memories
In addition to basic expenses, we also invest a lot of money in learning and experiencing various activities. We learned Spanish, surfing, yoga and other skills, participated in local hiking activities, and experienced different cultures and lifestyles. These experiences not only gave us a wealth of memories, but also gave us a deeper understanding of the local customs.
5. Other expenses: insurance, equipment updates and daily necessities
During the stay, there are other expenses, such as insurance, equipment updates and consumption of daily necessities. We spent a total of 160,000 yuan on these aspects. Among them, insurance is a part that we attach great importance to. We purchased critical illness insurance and travel insurance to protect our own safety.
Conclusion: The value and experience of sojourn life
Looking back on the three and a half years of living there, we spent a total of 500,000 yuan. Although this number seems staggering, when we average it out per month, it is actually only slightly higher than the cost of working and living in Shanghai. However, the life experience we gain is much richer. We feel that sojourn life not only allows us to see different scenery and cultures, but also allows us to learn how to live independently and how to get along with others. Most importantly, we gained countless memories and touches.
Finally, we would like to say that expatriate living does not necessarily require a large deposit to start. As long as you have the ability to work remotely and make money, you can start your travel journey. At the same time, how much you spend is not directly related to what kind of experience you get. During your journey, you may find some unexpected surprises and gains. So, don’t be afraid to try new lifestyles and let’s explore this beautiful world together!
