Summer healed by the Kumano Kodo: an in-depth dialogue between the soul and nature

The summer sun shines on the ancient Kumano Kodo. During the five-day and four-night hiking trip, we weaved an unforgettable memory with the ancient shrines, wooden houses in the small forest, and the continuous 5km uphill. This is not only a physical challenge, but also a spiritual baptism.

Meet the mystery and beauty of the Kumano Kodo

When we step into this land baptized by time, we feel as if we have entered an isolated fairyland. The ancient shrine quietly tells the legend of thousands of years, while the wooden house in the small forest has become a stop on our tiring journey. We walked along the ancient road, stepping on the traces of history every step of the way, feeling the mystery and beauty exuded by this land.

Challenge and Persistence: An encounter with an 88-year-old grandfather

During the hike, we met an 88-year-old grandfather. After his wife passed away, he was accompanied by his family to hike the Kumano Kodo. This old man introduced us to his self-media project for nearly half an hour. We deeply admired his enthusiasm and perseverance. His story tells us that age is not a reason to limit us from pursuing our dreams and loving life.

Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine: A landmark on the walking tour

When we finally arrived at Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine, we felt so excited and accomplished beyond words. This shrine is not only a landmark in the hiking trip, but also a meeting point between our souls and nature. Here, we feel the power of ancient beliefs and experience the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

Moving on: Challenging the Spanish Pilgrimage Route

After completing our hike on the Kumano Kodo, we didn’t stop. Because we know that there are more challenges waiting for us ahead. Next, we will continue our walking tour by heading to the Spanish Pilgrimage Route. We believe that every challenge will make us stronger and more mature.

Return to nature: leave footprints on the beach

At the end of the walking tour, we arrived at the beach. We celebrated with a footbath and a drink at the beach, feeling the sea breeze blowing and the waves crashing. At this moment, we seemed to be one with nature, and all our fatigue and worries disappeared.

Conclusion: A summer healed by the Kumano Kodo

This hiking trip gave us a profound experience of the beauty and power of nature. Not only were we physically exercised and challenged, but we were also spiritually healed and sublimated. The Kumano Kodo is not only a hiking route, but also a world full of mystery and beauty. If you are also eager to have close contact with nature and find inner peace and strength, then you might as well go on a hiking trip!
