1. Keep Cursor up to date
The newly launched Cursor is iterated frequently. You can make sure you're using the latest version in two ways:
Pay attention to the little bell in the lower right corner, and the official notification will be displayed here.
Occasionally visit the Cursor official website, the latest version will appear in the most conspicuous position.
2. Use Chinese plug-ins for localization
Many users feel that the English interface is disconnected, which can be improved by using Chinese plug-ins.
Operation method: Use `Command + Shift + The installation method of other plug-ins is the same, that is, search, install, and restart.
3. Optimize Composer panel
By default, the Composer panel is a separate window, and the conversation record with the AI cannot be viewed after it is closed.
Solution: Click the three dots on the panel and select "Open Composer as Panel" to embed it on the right side of the IDE. Click "Chat" and "Composer" to switch the conversation scope.
4. Use of prompt words
During the conversation, the prompt words should be as concise and clear as possible to accurately express your thoughts to the AI. This requires continuous practice and understanding during use. It is difficult to give detailed instructions, and users need to explore and optimize by themselves.
5. Model selection
The GBD4O model is used by default, other models can also be selected.
In actual experience, cloud3.5sonnet performed well in solving code-related problems. Users are welcome to discuss the pros and cons of each model in the comment area.
6. Operations when generating code
Let Cursor write clear comments to facilitate understanding when viewing the code later.
To take advantage of Cursor's ability to read Web resources, you can refer to the help document writing interface and add "Help me record this external service call into the README of the project document" in the prompt word. After the project is completed, the technology stack, dependent services, startup methods, test data, etc. can be clearly recorded.
7. Use the version management tool Git
The cursor can manipulate files and modify multiple files simultaneously. Click "Accept All" to write with one click. However, without version management, content is difficult to roll back.
In actual operation, you can click "accept all" and execute "git commit" at the same time and leave the corresponding information. This is equivalent to having a Git version number. Even if there is a problem when deleting or modifying code in an operation of Cursor, you can still roll back to the desired version at any time.
8. Cursor’s free online transfer method and disadvantages
Online transfer can keep the novice period of Cursor free by deleting the current account and re-registering, but it is uncertain whether the previous data, such as usage records, internal detailed settings of model parameter adjustment, etc. will be deleted.
And there are drawbacks to the free trial. Many advanced models are unusable and slow to respond. If you agree with the product experience during the trial phase, you may consider upgrading to the Pro version.
Welcome to share your tips on using Cursor or ask questions you encounter during use in the comment area, and I will try my best to answer them for you. I hope the above content can help everyone use Cursor better and improve programming efficiency.
